Lead the Pack: Elevate Your DSP Career

Great logistics networks are built on great leadership on the road. We are actively seeking experienced, highly capable logistics professionals to step up into the role of Lead DSP Driver & Dispatcher. This is not an entry-level position; it is the ultimate hybrid role bridging the gap between frontline driving and operational management within our Delivery Service Partner (DSP) network. If you have mastered the art of package delivery and are looking for driving jobs that offer leadership experience, critical problem-solving, and elevated respect, this is your next career move. You will be the veteran on the road, rescuing drivers in trouble, training the next generation, and ensuring the local fleet operates flawlessly.

About the Role: The On-Road Commander

As a Lead DSP Driver, your days will be highly varied and strategically complex. While you will still execute standard delivery routes, your primary value lies in your ability to support the entire DSP fleet. You will act as the right-hand to the Operations Manager. When a new driver struggles with the routing app, you will ride along and train them. When a van blows a tire or a driver falls critically behind schedule due to heavy traffic, you will be dispatched as the "Rescue Driver," intercepting them on the road to take half their cargo and ensure all customers receive their packages on time. This role requires immense logistical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to stay completely calm under pressure.

A Day in the Life of a Lead Driver

You arrive at the station before the main wave of drivers. You assist the Dispatch Manager in handing out keys, route manifests, and wearable scanners. You conduct a brief morning huddle, giving the team tips on navigating a new downtown construction detour. You load your van with a slightly smaller 'sweeper' route. After finishing your deliveries rapidly, your radio crackles. Dispatch informs you that a newer driver is stuck in an apartment complex and is an hour behind schedule. You immediately navigate to their location, executing a flawless on-road cargo transfer. You take 30 stops off their hands, rapidly deliver them using your expert route knowledge, and save the day. You return to the station, debrief with management, and help check in the returning fleet.

Comprehensive Duties & Responsibilities

  • On-Road Rescues (Sweeping): Act as the rapid-response unit. Intercept struggling drivers on the road, safely transfer heavy packages between vans, and complete their deliveries to protect Amazon's strict on-time metrics.
  • New Hire Training & Shadowing: Serve as the primary field mentor for new drivers. Conduct ride-alongs to teach them how to handle routing, app usage, and safe parking maneuvers.
  • Dispatch & Fleet Coordination: Assist operations managers at the station. Help audit pre-trip vehicle inspections, assign routes, and monitor the digital fleet tracker to identify drivers falling behind.
  • Incident Management: Be the first point of contact for minor on-road incidents. Guide drivers through accident reporting protocols, coordinate with tow trucks, and ensure cargo is secured during emergencies.

Industry-Leading Total Rewards

Leadership commands elite, yearly compensation:

  • Lead Driver Premium Pay: Earn a significantly higher yearly salary in recognition of your experience, training duties, and operational responsibilities.
  • Career Progression Pathway: This role is the clearest, most direct stepping stone into salaried Dispatch or Fleet Manager roles within the DSP.
  • Total Healthcare Security: Enjoy comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance from Day 1.
  • Paid Time Off: Accrue generous PTO and enjoy paid holidays.

Basic Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid state driver's license. Minimum of 1 to 2 years of highly successful, verifiable experience as a DSP Delivery Driver. Flawless safety record and historically perfect delivery completion metrics. Exceptional leadership, communication, and coaching skills; ability to teach and motivate others. Master-level proficiency with GPS routing software and dispatch telematics.
